Ok.... enough opinions. Enough rumors and conjecture. I measured the hitches on both tractors today.

Note: I have the biggest tires that will fit in the 4100 wheel wells, they are the maximum size recommended by Deere.

Maximum spread, inside to inside:

4100 = 33.5 inches at mid lift (stopped by contact with the tires).
BX22 = 33 inches (stopped by contact with the lower backhoe mounting bracket).

Arm length:
4100 = 24.5 inches
BX22 = 20 inches

Lower arm pivot pin height off the ground:
4100 = 14 inches
BX22 = 10.5 inches (note: 4100 can vary from 11 to 14 inches depending on rear tire size)

Actual lift height, lowest and highest:
4100 lowest = 9 inches, highest = 29 inches.
BX22 lowest = 6 inches, highest = 23 inches. (Again, you can subtract up to 3 inches on the 4100 depending on tire size, so it could also go 6/26 inches)

Interesting facts Mark, good work. From being around for a while I've seen hitches from 8n's to the newest tractors of all sizes needing to be adjusted. From catagory O to catagory 3 hitches that have needed to be adjusted. There is no perfect here!!! It just depends on what you are doing. Don't think for a second you can take a machine setup for one tractor and just move it to another because they both have catagory 1 hitches. On your other side see how many times you need to cut the pto shafts or worse yet add on! ....
