Hello;
First time poster here.

I have a Craftsman Lawn tractor ( 1997 ).
When I tried to start it, I got a lot of white smoke, and it ran for 15-20 seconds, then it just stopped. It did this several times.I took the air cleaner off, it seems to be shooting gas up through the carb.& into the air filter, which is now soaked. What could be causing this ? Do I need to have a carb. re-builb or just cleaned ? My knowledge is in welding , not working on engines of any kind.....LOL.
Thanks for any help .

Norm

Hey Norm
Sounds like your float s stuck open best fix is to just replace new one should be around 30 dollars. If you are not using alcohol free gas you should be for all your small engines. ....

In addition to the stuck float you might have a bad intake valve, happens when you use old stale fuel. ....
