Hey I just recently purchased a 09 Polaris Sportsman 550 XP!
It is awsome! It does run rough at times when idling.
Is there a problem or is it just the way its supose to be?
Thanks very much!

I picked-up a used 2006 Polaris Sportsman 450 this spring with 125 miles on it. I got a bargain on it. It runs very smooth at idle but starts a little hard without the choke even in 50 degree F. weather. It does run just a little rough for a couple of minutes, then runs fine.

I'd suggest you pop the seat and pull the air cleaner cover and make sure something isn't plugging up the air flow. My other suggestion would be to make sure you have clean gas and no moisture in it. You may want to use an additive to displace moisture and see if the problem goes away.

It may have been setting around and just needs to get cleaned out by running it for a couple hours straight at a good engine speed following any break-in instructions provided by Polaris. ....
