I am looking for a flail mower that can run on Hydrolic power, 8 GPM @ 2000 PSI. The unit should be small about 42 to 48 inches wide. Does anyone know of a manufacturer that makes such an inpliment?

I believe Woods (as well as most other large manufacturers) make such a thing, they are designed to be mounted to a 'boom arm' or in place of a back-hoe bucket for cutting roadsides, ditches, etc. They are rather expensive, you may want to find an older 48" pto-driven model and have a local machine shop make a mounting bracket for a hydraulic motor drive in place of the existing gearbox. A colleague of mine did this, it cost him about $1,500 complete instead of $8,000 for a new one. Best of luck. ....

I have a Gearmore flail mower, Model GCF41, overall width is 46", cutting width is 41". Min H.P. 17, weight is 615. I use it with a JD 4100 and love it. It was a little pricy new, but does a fantastic job for me, saving time by cutting and mulching in one pass, including orchard branches. Gearmore, Inc. is located in Pomona CA, (909) 620-6061. ....

I have a Mott brand 48" finish flail mower.(They actually call it a hammer knife mower but I guess it is the same thing.) Anyways, I bought it for my JD750 but recently bought a 1070 and will probably sell it to purchase a mower for the larger width machine. I don't know the value but would be willing to talk. It is pto driven and is a heavy duty unit. I'm in New England. Eric ....
