What lubricant should I use in the gearbox of my hog? Whats in there looks like it is a mix of #2 grease and gearbox oil - both of which I have scads of, what should I use and how full should I fill it? Hogging 2 acres of HEAVY growth today my gearbox was warm to the touch - not hot, just warmthanks!

The recommended lube for your gearbox is SAE80W-90 GL5 gearlube. An old trick to avoid replacing weeping seals is to add gun grease to these gearboxes to thicken up the mix. If your box doesn't get HOT to the touch, puke lube out the breather, or look water-contaminated (milky/white), I would run it without concern. These boxes are impossible to drain without siphoning or inverting the whole cutter, and filling with straight gearlube may create a leak you don't have now. ....
