I am now having a problem getting the blades to engage properly. When i pull the pto switch on the blades will turn for a few seconds then disengage. Can you help me with troubleshooting this problem?

I'm not familiar with that model designation. If it is a lawn and garden tractor, the electronic PTO clutch is out of adjustment. If the gap is too wide (from wear) it typically won't engage. I'm not sure but think the gap is .011". If you take off the grille and side panels you can see 3 bolts that tighten down the clutch. These need to be uniform in height.

I have 782's, 1862 and 1864 models. I had a bad muffler on the 1864 and let it go for a while and it heated up the clutch until it fatiqued and broke. ....
