7274 hour meter broke

My hour meter quit working at 500 hrs on my 7274.Dealer says i have to replace the whole dash panel which is over 900.Can anyone help me find a used one, a solution?

If I was you, I would buy a aftermarket hour meter and mount it out of the way. Just wire it into the main hot wire AFTER the switch so it's on when the switch is on. ....

Solutions

1: As above.

2. Another dealer.

3. Try a dealer later. At the busiest time of the year they don't want to mess with low-profit work.

4. Take the dash off yourself. If not self-evident buy the service manual. Get a new meter if you have to, but it's usually just a bad connection.

5. Leave as is, at least for a while. With your 500 hours of experience you should be able to translate months into hours to know when to service. Or if you're fussy, it's easier to keep a time log than to pay $900.

6. Bring it over. I'll do it for $850. ....
