My 04 HPX idles so low that it's almost hard to tell when it's running when cranking. After it warms up it still seems to be sluggish or slow to respond when accelerating and surges a bit when trying to hold a constant speed.
What are the two little plastic looking things on top of the carb ? Do they have anything to do with mixture settings? What is the proper positioning of these?
I tried to find a description of what they might be in the online manual and parts look up but found nothing.

Those two little plastic looking things are air/fuel adjusting screws. You need to warm your engine and then adjust each one, one at a time,to get the highest RPM. You may have to go back and forth because when you get one right it could throw the other off a little. Iam thinking that your carb may be clogged up on one side, it happens on HPXs alot. Feels like it's running on one cylinder. If it is,adjusting the screws won't help. ....

Made the adjustments today and man what a difference. It no longer surges and readily accepts rapid acceleration. The little knobs are fully turned against the stops but it works.
Thanks Gatoraider. ....
