Sounds like you need a new belt. I think it's pretty hard for a new one to come off. ....

If it is a M125383 belt, you must have a serious alignment problem or a real bad clutch. Is the brace between the motor and the transaxle there and tight on both ends? The spring inside the drive clutch could be broken not allowing the moveable sheave to push in as it decelerates. Or the driven clutch could be binding up and not closing as you decelerate. If your brace is not there or not tight, you could have egged out the motor mount holes and the motor could be out of alignment. Also make sure all the motor mount bolts are tight. ....

Just a thought - the belt has an arrow on it that is supposed to point towards the front of the machine. ....

g,day fellows
i,d like to thank you all for your help
i did end up finding the problem, the plate on the transaxle clutch had a crack in it ,when you rev,d the gator up it would begin to wobble thus when i deaccelerated the plate would still be wobbling .as the clutch closed the belt would fly off .
lucky we have 2 gators , i started pulling parts off one and putting on the other till i found the problem .i,ve ordered a new transaxle clutch which is 330 dollars
once again thanks very much for all your help
reg tony ....
