motor will spin but won't crank. Checked all the usual and everything seemed fine. Pulled the motor out (kawasaki) and pulled the valve cover off, when I spun the motor over the rockers would never move. I can hear the compression from the pistons moving, does this motor have a timing chain or belt? This is what it sounds like to me, anyone else have an idea?

You probably have an early model with the nylon cam gear and it probably broke. It usually takes the oil pump, water pump and governor gears with it. There will be a big pile in the bottom of the case. ....

Yes, it's behind the front plate. You need to get a special puller to pull the clutch. Try to borrow one from a dealer. ....

I'm waiting for the removal tool to be shipped in, but will there be a timing issues if the gear is broken? How hard is it to set the timing in this motor? Thanks again! ....
