Dealer has a 2000 JD 4300/4wd/hydro/turf/72"mmm in good cndtn, listing for $15000. I like the unit. Tractor would probably sell for $13000. A separate 300cx loader lists for $3500. Should I offer $15700 for tractor with loader? Has anyone had any mechanically difficulties with this year or model? I will be test driving next week. This tractor has been mainly used for mowing for the last 5 years. Never had a loader mounted.

I believe mine is around that year. Check the front axle to see it is the newer style with only 1 hydraulic cylinder and a tie rod to the other side. Take out the grill and look behind the battery, the oil cooler and radiator get bad corrosion from battery gassing. You can find several threads about this, it is almost universal. The fuel solnoid was manufactured incorrectly for many in those years. Oil gets behind the piston and prevents it from moving properly. The replacements have a groove internal to drain the oil. costs over $100 if you provide the labor. Mine went bad at 300 hours, about 3 hours after I bought it. Over 420 hours now and no more problems. ....

Thanks for the help. What price is fair? I was going to offer about $15500 for tractor and 300cx FEL.

Very impressed with the unit. Can the rear tires be set at a wider spread for stability?

Which size box blade is best for this tracotor with turf tires, 5ft or 6ft??

....

It never hurts to offer low. You can always go higher.
It will handle a 6 foot blade just fine.
Whether the tires can be set wider depends on the wheels. ....

This 4300 has turf tires. Do you think the 6ft box blade will be too much, as traction is poor without r4's?

The 6ft box blade will only cost $50 more than 5ft, and if this tractor will pull it fine with turf tires, than it is a done deal.

What price should I offer the dealer for 4300 with new 300cx FEL? ....

I would not worry about the turf tires and I would go with the 6 foot blade. It is not that turfs get much less traction, it is that they load with mud quicker and then have less traction. Unfortunatly the new loader has no depreciation at all so it is just whatever percent off list you can get. Offer what you said and work up slowly. See if you can get a universal quick tach on the loader bucket instead of John Deeres functional but poor standard one. ....

Bought my 2000 JD4300 4wd hydro turf with 60 mmm 2 years ago from a dealer for 13000 with 385 hrs on the clock. You should be able to do better me thinks. 6ft box should be fine but get weights for the front otherwise get the 5ft, as the 6ft bounces around a bit with the weight. ....

What is a good website to look up the market value of this 2000 4300? Dealer is quoting market value prices from an Outdoor power and equipment resource publication. Stating 2000 JD 4300/4wd/hydro with 72"mmm is worth $15200. Seems overpriced. Isn't there a website similar to Kelly Blue Book for tractors, etc??

Machinerylink used to list used tractor prices but they took them off their site awhile back. You could go to machinefinder dot com, register (it's free), and then search for 2000 JD 4300's and look to see what other dealers are asking. The returned prices are dealer prices so figure them to be at the high end of the scale. ....

I have a 5 foot box blade on my 4310. I like to keep things even with the width of the tractor. I get into a lot of tight places and if I'm not paying attention it's easy to get hooked and tear things up. ....
