I stopped by the JD dealer yesterday. They said that they'd give me a deal on a 48 backhoe with subframe because they were discontinued models. Was quoted $7900 installed, out the door. But when I asked what the 448 would cost, they said, installed $8000 plus $620 tax. Where's the deal????????

$720 is the deal.
JD told me they can always sell a backhoe, they won't sit around long. I tried to get them to come down about $1500 on a 48 they had sitting out back all winter and they laughed at me. This was 2 years ago and their bottom price was $6900 installed. I saved the $1500 buying a different brand but did a lot of running around and modifying to make it work. There is just not much dealing with these things, and the price just keeps going up. ....

Well that was my last shot with JD backhoe. Monday I'm ordering a Taylor Pittsburg backhoe 3 pt attachment. $4300 delivered and with the money saved, I'll either buy a subframe from JD and modify it to fit the backhoe or fabricated one myself. Their lost.
BTW they had 6 of those #48 backhoes on pallets :-( . ....
