My JD 755 has an oil leak on the front axle, it appears to be coming from around the wheel hub on one side. I'm guessing there is a seal or seals there where the shaft exits the axle housing. Can anyone advise me what I'm likley to find there when I strip it down and tell me if a reasonably competant DIY'er can change them? Any advice much appreciated.

The front hub is fairly easy to repair. After you remove the wheel, remove the six bolts holding the hub on. Then remove the hub assembly. On the inside of the hub is a gear and some bearings that are retained by either snap rings or a locking jam nut. Just remove the bearins and gear. Then pull the spindle out of the outer bearing. The seal is now accessible. ....
