I have a JD 4410 with power reverser. As per the manual I engage the clutch, select transmission gear and range, and then move power reverse lever forward. When I lift the clutch it does not go. On the other hand if I leave the power reverse lever in neutral, then lift the clutch it does go forward when I move the lever forward but a bit too sudden. After that it will engage and disengage with just the clutch but only about 3 times. Then I need to start the procedure over again. Is this a serious problem.

Read post 4 times. I think, if it is acting like mine, there is a linkage issue. I now, most of the time, know just as soon as I move lever I can feel wether it went in gear Fwd or rev or not. I have to reclutch and bump the lever again.

Sometimes it cause me to growl but most of time I just deal with it and move past. Mine is in the linkage and it has not caused me enough stress to rip apart. ....
