I have a choice between two new tractors: A JD 1070 4WD vs a Kubota L3710 4WD. The Kubota looks like newer technology, but I'm interested in a tractor with a long trouble-free life. Which is better?

I can only speak for the 1070, since I own that tractor now. It replaced my 950 and I have really enjoyed this machine. It has given me real good service, and my dealer has been there when I needed him. This is a strong tractor with good response on the hydraulics, I use a front end loader on it and it works great also. The Kubota is probably an excellent machine as well, it's just a matter of features that suit your need. Good luck with your choice. ....

John,The 1070 is no longer in production so if you are looking at one it is a 98 for starters, the 4600 is it's replacement. Speaking from experience the 1070 has been unbeleivable!!! Resale on the product is unreal and demand is still up there! If the Kubota looks like newer technology then look at a 4600, not even the same ball park. ....

THE L3710 OFFERS THE GLIDE SHIFT OR HYDROSTATIC TRANS. WHICH ARE BOTH VERY NICE TO USE. I'D ALSO GIVE THE EDGE TO THE KUBOTA IN THE FRONT LOADER DEPARTMENT AS IT HAS A MORE SUBSTANTIAL FRAME WHICH ATTACHES TO THE TRACTOR IN THE FRONT, MIDDLE AND REAR. THOSE OF YOU WITH BUCKET LOADER FRAMES THAT DO ONT ATTACH TO ALL THREE POINTS MAY WANT TO CHECK ALL LOADER MOUNTING BOLTS FROM TIME TO TIMEAS THEY TEND TO LOOSEN. ....

I have put 8 years on the 1070 and have come to love this particular machine!!!! the place that I worked for had 7 different tractors and I have to say that this tractor is like having a good friend...smooth, powerful, reliable" even when we had 0 degree weather" and just a comfortable user friendly tractor. you will not be dissapointed! oh yea the sales and service people are awesome, although you seldom need them ....

Fatstreak, welcome to the board! Not sure you noticed, but this thread is nearly 10 years old, so don't be surprised if you don't get a reply ;)

Dare I ask how you came up with your call-name? ....

hi there friend, my dad owns a john deere 1070 and it recently died. would you happen to know what problem it could be? the tractor just won't start, period. even with a battery that's fully charged, it just doesn't want to crank. if this is a question you might not be sure of, would you happen to know who does? ....
