I am having my 2004 B7800 tractor shut down sometimes while driving on road and can't restart. Other times I shut off motor and 10 minutes later try to start again and it turns over but doesn't start. It acts like a gas motor would with spark plug unplugged. I had it looked over by a Kubota dealer with no results.

Of course it didn't act like that when they had it. any ideas?

What color is the exhaust when you are cranking the engine over and it will not start?

Look in the fuel tank for a piece of trash than can float but will be sucked to and closed the fuel outlet when running and remain there till suction slowly releases. When it does this break a fuel line or unscrew filter to see if fuel is coming out of tank freely.

If it was doing it when taken to the dealer would think they would have looked for restriction in the air intake system such at mouse or wasp nest. ....

You didn't state what the hours are but there must be a few for the age. It could be a fuel flow issue, broken wire going to the shut off with several other possibilities.

Does it happen about the same amount of operating time?
Is the fuel tank about the same level? ....

there are 1200 hours on the tractor. It doesn't seem to matter where the fuel level is. It happens so little that when it does happen its usually when its shut off for 5-10 minutes, and I want to start it again. But this morning it happened on the road which is [embarrassing] and hasn't happened for a long time. ....

So your saying if you shut it off for 10 to 15 minutes it won't start. Then if you are going down the road it might stall? ....

The first thing that comes to mind to me is the fuel shut off relay is the issue, likely either the relay has gotten weak, or the wiring to it has some corrosion issues.

I'd check all wiring to the relay, especially the connections and grounds.

If it happens again try putting power straight to the relay/solenoid.

Best of luck. ....

Does that model have any safety cut out switches? My 2320 has one under the seat and also on the hydro pedal. If the hydro pedal doesn't return fully it wont start. If the switch under the seat is intermittent that could also cause your symptoms. I adjusted my switch on the hydro pedal so that it most always operate correctly these days. ....

Right now for what I've read I'd be looking at the wires and fuel shut off as Murf suggested. When you are cranking does it show any signs of smoke? ....

That is a good start. We often find a weak connection with the wiring is often the problem. ....
