what's a good competitive number to use for cutting large companies lawns-say 2-7 acres. Is there a formula or someone with some history that can shed some light on what it should cost and time it takes etc

Jim,
To cut a acre its usual to pay about $35 to $45. But that price includes the price of coming and unloading and packing up. So for five acres $200 would be high, I think you could probably only charge about $125 to $150 for it and it will take you 3 to 4+ hours to mow.

Just my guesstimate
TomM ....
