Gents,

I am posting this message in hope that maybe someone has located another source for the hydrostatic filter for the TC25/29D tractors.

It was also posted on the other compact tractor website.

It was time for an oil change and I decided to replace fluids and filters.

NH P/N: SBA360720020, ELEMENT (FUEL FILTER) $2.80
NH P/N: SBA340500720, FILTER, (HYDROSTATIC OIL) $33.52
NH P/N: SBA340500890, FILTER (HYDRAULIC OIL) $20.34
NH P/N: SBA140517020, FILTER (ENGINE OIL) $10.96
86549700, FILTER (AIR, OUTER) $31.23
86549701, FILTER (AIR, INNER) $12.24

Alright gentlemen - here are some issues. First all of all the oil filter they sold me is a cheap looking black painted import unit (from Japan) and is about 1/2 the size of the unit I replaced. The one that was on there is a white (one can write a date/hours on the white one) NH brand unit that is U.S. made and has a NH P/N 86546618 - very robust looking. As for the price - of course it is too high but jeez, for $11 that I paid I would expect a filter like what was on it when I bought it from the dealer. I understand that it is OK to have Japan imported stuff - but this thing looked like a Taiwan or Chinese knock off with Kanji writing on it and such - the new junky looking unit is a Denso brand (P/N 115010-5350).

As for the air filters, supposedly the inner only needs replacement after 1000 hours. Sorry - but for the price - I will replace both critical filters.

As for the hydro filter- wish I could get it a Fleetfarm. That sucker is really expensive! Too expensive I think. Will be looking for new source.

As for the hydraulic filter - you CAN get the unit at Fleetfarm - even the dealer said so (about $8.50).

As for the fuel filter - would have paid more. It really did it's job.

Questions:
1) What is the P/N of your engine oil filter? How big is it? Is it the Denso brand? The dealer that sold the TC25D to me is one of the largest in the US. I am confident they know what filter to put on the tractor (the beefier NH brand unit). Concerned that my local dealer sold me a cheap filter.

2) Other source for Hydrostatic filter?

Remember to spray down your tilt wheel mechanism before it stops working (dealer reminded me). My telescopic function has been stuck from day one, however my tilt function only started to stick (would not lock in position) just last week. I told dealer - he said spray it and I did clearing up the issue immediately.

Cliff

Cliff this was something that got covered up and forgotten. This will happen less as we have a new box to catch posts. We have had some discussion on this you need to search the posts. I believe Wix and NAPA were mentioned but you need to check the postings. ....

Cliff,

I'm no expert but this is what I have found. The Engine Oil Filter 86546618 is a stock filter for several of the NH tractors and is made in the USA. The 87771912 (SBA 140517020) is made in Japan by Denso and is TWICE the price of the 86546618. The parts computer at the dealer service department calls out the 87771912 but the 86546618 works just fine. You are right that it is about twice the size which should mean that the oil will cool a little better due to surface area. This is a PLUS. My TC33D also came with the 86546618. Since 1999, the "called out" filter has changed from the 86546618 to the 86533316 (SBA 340500770) then to the 87771912 - INCREASING price each time. I use the 86546618 and change it every 50 hours when I change oil (Mobil One 10W30). Just my two cents. ....
