Trying to determine the height, width, and rim size/diameter for a 11.2-24 tire - can anyone help? Also, are there tables (or secret decoder rings...) for those of us who are not "tire literate" to determine this information for other tires with similar descriptions? Thx

An 11.2R-24 would be 43.4 inches in diameter with a 24 inch wheel the overall width is 11.2 inches ....

Thanks for the help - now I understand what the "11.2" and "24" represent. Were you able to determine the diameter (43.4") from these two figures as well or did you go elsewhere for that information? ....

A good rule of thumb for overall tire diameter is rim size plus 2 times 85% of the tire width. - Usually this will get you within an inch of the true diameter. - An 11.2R-24 would calculate to 43.04 (actually 43.4) ....

Did you inadvertantly post your follow-up (and the previous one) to the wrong message? If not, what does this have to do with Bill's follow-up re: tire sizes??? Just want to make sure I'm not missing something... ....

Just because a tire has 11.2x24 as the size on the tire doesnt mean a ll.2x24 in all brands of tires are the same diameter. While selling farm tires for forty year I have found tires are like womens dress sizes. Some brands are bigger than others. Firestone tires usually are larger than Goodyear. Premium grade tires are larger than economy tires. There are exceptions. Some import brands that cost much less than domestic are larger and weigh more than name brand domestic tires and perform just as well sometimes much better. Plus there are some imports not so durable that I wouldnt purchase. Any questions email me for courteous professional advice with a little touch of southern hospitality. ....
